The Callan Method

The Callan Method is an intensive method of learning through structured questions and answers, which enables you to learn English in a fast and dynamic way. The language is learnt through guided conversation, encouraging you to think in English and avoid translating from Croatian. It is not learnt passively. Students participate actively in each lesson while the teachers explain new concepts, grammatical structures and vocabulary, correcting your mistakes as you speak. Because of this, the lessons are fast, dynamic and interactive. The knowledge you gain prepares you for real-life situations in which you will have to speak English.

The three principles of the Callan Method

Speaking without translating

Instead of simply translating, grammar, sentence construction, vocabulary and phrases are learnt actively speaking the language during lessons. In this way, your brain becomes immersed in the language, and English becomes logical and natural. During the lesson, teachers speak as they normally would in any situation, preparing you for conversations in real situations with native speakers.

Correction

When you make a mistake in your pronunciation, get stuck or don't know the answer, your teacher is there to help you say the whole sentence independently, all the while practising new words and grammar.

Repetition

Repetition is the mother of all learning. During a Callan Method lesson, repetition is key in mastering the language. By repeating newly learnt words and grammar in various phrases, idioms and examples, your confidence grows, you improve and become more and more skilled in speaking, comprehension and speed.
