Course overview

For absolute beginners, starting to learn a language can be overwhelming. Traditional methods, like reading grammar books, may not be effective due to a lack of vocabulary. Self-teaching is challenging without feedback on progress.

With the Callan Method, tailored for beginners, learning becomes seamless. As experienced educators, we appreciate the blank slate beginners offer; no pre-learned mistakes make teaching easier.

In this course, you dive into speaking from the very first minute. Beginning with simple sentences and a limited vocabulary, your speech evolves organically. We progressively introduce complexity, building your vocabulary and grammar through conversation.

The method is straightforward yet impactful. Questions target specific words or phrases, and your entire lesson is spent speaking, with every mistake corrected. Repetition solidifies learning, akin to how parents correct their children's mistakes. It's a mistake-friendly environment, acknowledging errors as a vital part of the learning process.

Main objectives 

The focus of this Erasmus Plus training course is to promote fluency to all members of an educational organisation through structured Callan Method English lessons and a variety of workshops.
Participants will be instructed entirely in English on proper pronunciation and sentence structure, and will use the power of repetition to achieve this smoothly. Participants will also be guided on creating professional documentation such as letters, memorandums and agendas.

The course will help the participants to:  

Daily Program

Day 1 – Introduction to the Callan Method
Introduction to the course, the school, and the week’s external activities;
Setting the framework: expectations, goals, rules and roles;
Basics of the Callan Method;
Callan Method English lesson;
City walking tour.

Day 2 – New Vocabulary and Deeper Understanding of the Callan Method
Callan Method English lesson;
Learning with ICT Tools – alphabet, numbers, clothes, body parts, family members;
Callan Method English lesson.

Day 3 – New Vocabulary and Grammar
Callan Method English lesson;
Learning by playing: place and time descriptions, personal pronouns;
New vocabulary – food;
Visit to the green market;
Callan Method English Lesson.

Day 4 – The Callan Method continued
Callan Method lesson;
Learning with ICT tools: affirmative, negations, descriptions, introduction and presentation;
Callan Method Lesson.

Day 5 – Revision Class and Final Examination
Callan Method lesson;
Callan Method full revision class;
Final examination;
Closing notes and discussion.

Day 6 – Course closure & cultural activities
Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
Excursion and other external cultural activities.

We help people speak English confidently and free them of the fear of making mistakes. The Callan Method is a fast and dynamic method that consists of guided conversation with native speakers. Our students learn English actively, practising it during the lesson. The goal of the method is to improve your listening, understanding and speaking skills. The method focuses on spoken language, not traditional, high English.
Callan classes are fast-paced, dynamic and interactive! During a Callan Method lesson, students speak English the whole time, and the teachers are there to correct your mistakes! Repetition makes you more fluent and, most importantly, raises your confidence level and frees you from your fear of speaking.
